12 Catholic groups, including the Loretto Community, asked the pope to rescind the decrees in the Doctrine of Discovery, a document giving claim to land to Christians who “discovered” it (the land). The Loretto community, a congregation of religious women and laypeople, collaborated with someone from the Osage Nation to draft the resolution.
