Georgeanne Growingthunder (Georgie) b. 2011— is an eleven-year-old, enrolled member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes on the Nakoda (Assiniboine) roll, Kiowa, Mvskoke, and Seminole descent. She has been performing since she could walk. As a Native American dancer, she was brought into the dance arena at the Denver March Powwow in 2013. She is well-recognized as a young artist, actor, and dancer. Georgeanne’s artwork has been collected and displayed across the United States and Europe. Her acting from infancy to now demonstrates an impressive resume to date. She most recently can be seen in Reservation Dogs Season 3, episode 3 as Young Deer Lady, written by Sterlin Harjo, Taika Waititi, and Chad Charlie and directed by Danis Goulet. Before that, she played the lead role of Rose Home Gun in Dogwood, written and directed by Maya Rose Dittloff. She participated as a horsemanship rider in Martin Scorsese’s—Killers of the Flower Moon. Georgeanne’s theatrical stage performance for the Same Boat Theater Collective featured in stage performance Earthquake, Moving the Earth with Our Voices in San Francisco, London, and New Delhi.
As a Native American youth, Georgeanne says, “I want to be like my ancestors and relatives who have worked to evolve performing arts and fine art.” Georgeanne wishes to present art as she has seen it— being of value, having meaning from the Native American perspective, and with a purpose for better representation. She wants audiences, no matter if they are watching her perform or looking at her art, she expects the take away to understand the meaning and influence of an authentic Native American experience. Georgeanne feels a need to present art for education through youth conversations to hear young voices about Indigenous people and their creativity. At the 98th SWAIA Santa Fe Indian Market, she was acknowledged as a 2018 Emerging Artist Fellow. Currently, she is a drama major emphasizing stage and ballet performance. She attends
one of the top performing arts schools and has previously participated at the Yvonne Chouteau School of Ballet.
