Interim Director of Communications

Sherrie Catanach (she/her) is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Pojoaque in New Mexico and a descendant of boarding school survivors who attended both the Carlisle Indian Industrial School and the Santa Fe Indian School.
Before joining NABS, Sherrie served as the Director of Communications for the State of New Mexico’s Indian Affairs Department. In this role, she worked closely with New Mexico’s 23 Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos to enhance and strengthen government-to-government relationships. She also collaborated with the New Mexico Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives Task Force and the New Mexico Indigenous Youth Council, helping to elevate their voices, advance their work, and bring greater public awareness to critical issues impacting Indigenous communities.
