Grants Manager
Kathy Howkumi (she/her) is a member of the Tewa speaking people and enrolled in Nan’be Owingeh (Nambe Pueblo), one of six Tewa speaking Pueblos located in Northern New Mexico. Born and raised on the Nambe Pueblo Reservation, she is a descendant of a Santa Fe Indian Boarding School survivor.
Prior to joining NABS in January 2024, as a Grants Manager, she worked as a Supervisory Victim Specialist for the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, Victim Assistance Program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She supervised victim specialists and provided direct services to victims of crime in Indian Country. She also worked as a Program Manager in the Tribal Unit, for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women in Washington, DC, and managed grants and cooperative agreements awarded to tribal governments and non-profit tribal coalition programs across the nation.
