American Indian and Alaskan Native youth (AA/AN) experience trauma at higher rates than other youth in the U.S. This, in tandem with intergenerational trauma has led to substance abuse, mental health issues, suicide, violence, and chronic behavioral issues in Native communities. Mathematica Policy Research submits a report to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about trauma-informed care and trauma-specific interventions for AI/AN youth and guardians focused on suicide prevention and substance use disorders.
